Last month, I posted a rant about a tv show that really ticked me off. Today, I’m posting a rave. I love, love, love the show RESIDENT ALIEN. The first two seasons are streaming on Netflix, and season 3 is on Syfy and Hulu. For me, this show is the perfect mixture of funny, witty, and ridiculous, with a dash of heartwarming thrown in, too. The premise is that an alien crash-landed into a small Colorado mountain town, and now has to fake being human while trying to find his ship and complete his mission.
If you’re looking for realistic, look elsewhere. If you want to laugh at quirky characters while leaning into the silliness, step right up.
Alan Tudyk plays Harry the alien, and he is comic gold in the role. Among his many quirks, Harry can’t stop quoting LAW AND ORDER because binge-watching it is how he learned English. But while I love Tudyk’s portrayal of an alien trying to fake being a human while inevitably “catching” human emotions like they’re an infection, I also love how well fleshed-out the side characters are. They really dig into their personalities and backgrounds, which carries the story forward, and can I give a “hell-yeah!” to all the female friendships?? I’m really hoping for a season 4 because this show is my brain candy, and what can I say? I’m a candy-holic.
Here’s the official trailer for season one, which has a slighter darker tone than the show actually has, imo:
Now, I promised you a contest, and I’m here to deliver! Once again, I’m giving away two prizes. And, to make my gushing about RESIDENT ALIEN relevant, just leave a reply telling me what TV show that YOU love. You don’t have to go into detail like I did, of course, unless you just want to rave about it, too. Each person who replies with their favorite TV show will be entered to win one of the two below prizes.
The first prize is a $15 Amazon egift card (open to US readers only.)
The second prize is any book from my backlist, winner’s choice which. This part is open to international readers as well as US readers. See all of my books HERE.
Contest starts NOW and ends Thursday, May 24th at 11:59pm. Winners will be announced on my blog the next day.
ALSO, if you want to chat with me live tomorrow (Saturday the 18th) on video, I’m meeting up at 5pm Eastern time on the Frost Fans Discord channel. You can sign up and join the chat HERE.
Good luck, and hope to see some of you online at the chat tomorrow!

My favorite show will always be “how I met your mother”. I first watched it in high school, during a time when I was really lonely and sad, and I found comfort, happiness, company in it; i dreamed that I would one day have a group of friends like that, that would become my family in all the ways that mattered, and it got me believing in love even though I didn’t feel like I was “fit” for it. I then rewatched it during my first year of uni, when we were all stuck at home because of covid and I felt so discouraged and bitter for missing out on that experience – and despite me being older, and knowing that maybe the show isn’t perfect, that some jokes don’t work as well ten years later, it still managed to give me comfort in a way few shows have. I never cry while watching TV, and yet I can’t count all the times I did with himym (and still do everytime I rewatch certain episodes) or the times I laughed so hard even on days when I didn’t feel like it. When you know, you know, and I think a piece of my heart will always stay with those characters.
Renee says

I love so many shows! Right now I just finished the first season of X-Men ‘97 and that show put me through so many emotions, haha. When I visit my aunt every week, we watch 2-3 episodes of Crossing Jordan on the Roku, we’re halfway through season 4 out of 6 now, I also wanted to watch this one, because of the crossover episodes they had on Las Vegas, the one with James Caan and Josh Duhamel.
Wynn says

My show is a bit different. I have gone down a rabbit hole as it concerns Chinese dramatic shows. The internet and youtube are very powerful things. The show is Royal Feast, and it has it all, slow burn romance, political intrigue, assassination attempts, interfering mother-in-laws, full out rebellions, arranged marriages leading to heartbreak, a pet black cat, and most of all, food and how it bonds people together, or can break them apart.
Mikky says
House M.D. used to be my all time favorite a few years ago. I went through a Supernatural phase. Currently the I have no favorite ♡ Thank you for the giveaway!

I’m a big fan of the suicide squad. I love the characters, especially Harley Quinn. She’s simple an icon. As well as the characters, the plot is also brilliant. 🙂
Junicorn M. says
I’m not normally a big fan of TV shows. When others are watching TV, I just pick up a book and read. One show I do like though is Lucifer. It’s so funny to see how he tells everyone that he’s the devil, but no one believes him. And then when they get it, they’re soo shocked XD
Juliette B. says
I hope I’m not the only one who’s still obsessed with Disney movies, even though I’m way too old for that. The frozen movies in particular are brilliant in my opinion. They never get old!
