Next up is the playlist I listened to while writing WICKED ALL NIGHT. As many of you know, I write each book to a specific set of songs. Listening to music helps me concentrate while I write, and listening to the same songs helps keep me focused on that particular book. Usual disclaimer: there’s no hidden meaning for the book in these songs, unless I note a song with an asterisk. Some songs are recent hits, some are retro, and some are in between. Also, music tastes are as personal as reading tastes, so if you don’t like some of the bands/songs, no problem! * The lyrics to “I Do” could’ve been written by Ian during one of his most raw, honest moments. We all know how Ian felt about commitment, love, or–gasp–needing anyone before Veritas, so this song really encapsulated the profoundness of Ian’s change of heart for me. Sample of the lyrics to “I Do”:

With WICKED ALL NIGHT wrapping up the Night Rebel series, I keep getting asked “Are you done writing about vampires now?” Once again, the answer is NO, and that’s not limited to my upcoming new Night Huntress novella in the HEX ON THE BEACH anthology with authors Melissa Marr and Kelley Armstrong.
So, which vampire is next to get a book, after my story in HEX ON THE BEACH? I don’t know yet. I’ve joked that *I* don’t actually choose who gets a book because I just give it to whichever character is currently the loudest in my head. Well, right now, I have two characters being very loud, and you’ll recognize them both: Vlad and Bones.
Bones wants me to finish THE OTHER HALF OF THE GRAVE because he’s not done telling his side of he and Cat’s story yet. Vlad wants a fifth book because he feels I cut his series off too soon. Both are adamant about going first, and neither is playing nice. Here’s a snapshot of what it’s like to have the two of them in my head, arguing about this:
Vlad: You can’t seriously be thinking about making me take a back seat to that uppity peasant, can you? Do I need to remind you that without me, there would be no vampire stories?
Bones: Right there is why I call him a bloody show hound! Can’t wait to brag about his infamy again, can he? He should hire a plane to sky write “I’m Dracula!” over his home next. That’s the only publicity he hasn’t already given himself.
Vlad: Call me that name again, and I’ll burn you to death.
Bones: Not before I rip your head off. Feel that, mate? It’s me measuring your neck with my power.
Vlad: Feel this? It’s me setting your insolent ass on fire!
*grins* What are Cat and Leila doing, you may wonder, while the guys are hurling threats at each other? Having a drink and laughing at how bent out of shape they’re getting. Cat and Leila don’t mind who goes first. In fact, they’d really rather that the other get the spotlight because they know that whoever I write about, I put through the wringer, and neither relishes going through that again (sorry, ladies!)
So, I don’t know if Vlad will be up next, or if it will be Bones. I’m probably going to start poking at each story, and see which one doesn’t let me stop. Will it be the former prince, or the former prostitute who prevails? *wink* We shall see!
Thank you for this. I needed this laugh today. And very much looking forward to which ever story you write next. Heaven forbid it’s a story where Vlad and Bones have to work together. I don’t think anyone would survive it.
But what a story it would be!
No matter what happens this entire universe peaked for me when last night while rereading Into The Fire, i remembered there’s actually canonically a scene where Vlad, Leila, Ian, Mencheres, Maximus, and Marty ALL PLAY IN THE SNOW!! SNOWFIGHTING. I can’t believe i forgot that scene where Leila pulled out a couple of minutes out of there fight to stay alive and gave a beautiful gift to Vlad who had NEVER had such a moment in 600 years. I can’t believe the childish glee with which Ian played with them, I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT MENCHERES SAYING “IT IS ON” IN “STREET SPEAK”. And telekinetic snowball fighting, Vlad using his fire powered hand to make ice crystal balls. All against Mencheres and oh my heart. It is the best moment. THE BEST. thank you for writing such amazing characters that such simple acts bring us joy to read them. It is beautiful and i love love love your books.
Hahah I personally would love either of them prevailing, however so far, Ian is the one who snatched up the bigger throne in my heart. I had never thought I’d love a character this much before so thank you for that! I do feel that Ian and Veritas’s story got cut short too soon with all the war and enemies they had to face. Even with a short novella, I’d love to see them taking a little time with each other with a short adventure.
While Cat and Bones are super exciting, I am DEFINITELY a huge fan of Vlad and Leila! Would absolutely love to dive into another action packed adventure with them! I read the Night Prince series in a matter of days (and not to mention it was the first taste I got of Jeaniene Frosts books!!!) so I can easily say, Vlad and Leila are probably my favorite pair (Close call between them and Ian and Veritas 😉)!!
Whatever the decision ends up being, I am eagerly waiting for the next big hit! I KNOW I won’t be disappointed!!

Do you think you will ever do a book from Vlad’s POV? I’m sure a glimpse into his mind would be very entertaining and possibly a tiny bit scary.
I definitely truly want to know Vlad’s pov too. Maybe not on the entire book(s) (even if tempting) but at least on some chapters from each books. Maybe the most important moment like when he met Leila. I know he already kind of explained what he felt and thought but it’s different than from reading and experiencing it from his total pov.
I love Bones and Cat so much but I can’t wait for another Vlad and Leila’s story.

Obviously neither wants to work in person with the other so, they each send a trusted ally without telling each other. Vlad sends Maximus and Bones sends Annette. The two of them arrive and are both insulted that the others master couldn’t be bothered to show up. They reluctantly realise they have to work with each other and that leads to… Well, you see where I’m going. For some strange reason I just see the two of them being perfect for each other 😂. Anyway, I look forward to any book by you! Can’t wait to find out what it’ll be!

All those years ago, when I picked up the very first cat and bones story just so I had something to read while being on the bus traveling, started my insane affair with all the Night Huntress and N.H. World spinoff series. I have never been disappointed in a single story I’ve read of yours and I always get excited when I can get one of my friends hooked as well.
The only thing that surprises me is how the last book, Wicked All Night ended. I honestly thought it would be 4 books, with the final battle being so much bigger and longer and emotional. Then it would go on about the new freedoms Veritas, Katie and even Leila had since they no longer had to hide their true selves. I just thought you might have delved into the after effects of such a monumental game changer for this world. But either way, its still all awesome. Plus, back when Ian and Veritas were first in a scene together, during the ghoul war, I just knew and I said on one of these blog posts back then, that those 2 would be an amazing story and lovers. Im so glad you felt the same way because their personalities separate and alone, make for fun and dangerous times. Putting them together?! *Boom*

I’m hoping not another Vlad book as felt that story wrapped up well and I LOVE Bones/Cat, Veritas/Ian, Mencheres, much more. As others mentioned I’m curious if all the Cain references will eventually come to something.

I’ve read through all your books and must say, it has been nothing less than captivating. I think I’ve read “wicked all night” about 15 to 20 times 😂😂.
But for the last two days, something has been troubling or would I say nagging my mind. Why don’t you do a series for Ashael?. That way, you introduce us to the good part of the demon species in your paranormal universe. And we get to see everybody again…
I already have a plot in my head but I believe you’ll do more justice to it.
Ashael falling in love with a lady from another specie (you decide). Then trouble rears it’s ugly head, and Ashael ends up needing the help of Veritas, who in turn tell Ian (who doesn’t hesitate to help him), which makes Mencheres know about it and in comes Bones as co-ruler and Vlad as Mencheres friend.
Lets also include the wives, and lastly, some members of the vampire council (since we’ve not really had that story). Throw in the Ghouls too and Boy! Do we have a story.
What do you say?.

OMG! I can’t believe that there might be another chance to read more about Vlad and Leila! I am obsessed. Like truly, I’ve never thought I would find such a PERFECT story, perfect characters, perfect plot, perfect dialogues. Despite all the fantasies in the story. Reading it made it sound so real!! I AM OBSESSED. Believe me!
I still have two chapters left from the Night Prince book 4. But I wanted to find out if there is any chance to get more of this masterpiece. I will take my time in those two chapters. Because I read the previous books in less than a week and I really really don’t want It to end.

Oh god please please give Ian another book! Night Rebel deserves a fourth book! We haven’t fully saw Ian and Veritas’s relationship grow the same way it did in Vlad and Leila’s. I do love me some Dracula, but Ian is just too precious to wait 🙁 Also missed Bones and Cat oh so dearly! You created an amazing (amazing doesn’t even do half the justice) universe that we are obsessed with, I have never come upon such novels that promote healthy images of male protogonists instead of the sexist male gazing ones. I love this universe and all the male characters with all my heart and hope you never stop writing about them!! <3 Because I know that I will never stop re-reading them! 🙂
I love this series! From start to finish and all the characters in between. I think there is so much let to touch on. I would love to hear more about Timothy and what he’s been doing with that group protecting Cain. That would probably be my biggest want with this series right now. I would also love some spin offs involving Tate and Maximus; maybe Juan too. Oooh and possibly Vlad’s son (or nephew) as well. Obviously with appearances with the original corresponding characters. I feel like the Ian and Veritas’ story had a good conclusion but Ashael’s story would be awesome too! I could go at this all day. I hope you don’t get bored with this story line any time soon. There is still so much left to be told! Until then…
Vlad is my all time favorite and I would be over the moon if there is going to be a 5th night prince book or anything related to the night prince series, like maybe about Maximus, Mircea, Samir, Gretchen or anyone else.
I love this series SO Much! I have been reading these books from the beginning. To be honest if you ended up writing a hundred books I would read and reread them all. (So write a hundred ;).
I would love either of these, but I’m dying for more Vlad, regardless of which happens first I’m super excited there ids more Vlad in my future. Don’t tell Bones that I might like Vlad more than him. Sorry Bones, I still love you too!
I just finished the Night Rebel series AFTER reading A Grave Girl’s Getaway, and I realized I made a terrible mistake. A Grave Girl’s Getaway briefly includes this endlessly fascinating character called Ashael, so I figured I’d read Night Rebel to find out more about him. But after finishing Night Rebel, I’ve been disappointed. Oh, don’t get me wrong – Ashael was a pretty prominent character in that story and I found out lots more about him than before. Yet he deserves so much more!! I couldn’t get enough of him, so I will now join the other voices in calling for a series about Ashael. I really, REALLY would love to see more of this awesome character in your future works!!! Thank you for writing, and keep up the great work!

Night Rebel is my all-time favorite series across the board. There’s not a single con or weak point in this entire series IMO. The characters have so much depth, the dialogue hits you (I either lmao, cry, smile, or cringe, but it always hits), the action is super exciting, I could go on and on. Would kill for more Ian and Veritas! Along with many others, I’d also love to see a book/series starring Ashael. He’s quickly becoming my favorite supporting character! I love that you took us into a new world in the NH universe in the NR series. Would love to dive deeper into the demon world. AFTER Bones next book of course lol
