It feels like it’s been raining every day where I live, and the weather has me wanting to cocoon on the couch with a good book or a good TV show. Of course I can’t do either because I have to work, but a girl can covet, right? I have a bunch of books in my “Can read when I finish writing Up From the Grave!” pile, and here are some TV shows coming out in the fall that I’m looking forward to.
DRACULA, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Nonso Anozie and Jessica De Gouw. Do I really need to elaborate on why I’m looking forward to this show? ;). Link to trailer here.
SLEEPY HOLLOW, starring Tom Minson, Nicole Beharie, Richard Cetrone, John Cho, and Gordon Dillard Jr. I’ve been fascinated by the story of the Headless Horseman since I was a child, so I can’t wait to see this retelling setting Headless and Ichabod Crane (and a sexy Ichabod at that!) in modern times. In fact, I’m so sold on the story that I stopped watching the trailer halfway through so I wouldn’t be spoiled on any plot points. Can’t wait! Trailer link here.
ALMOST HUMAN, starring Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, and Lili Taylor. Did you see the part where it’s starring Karl Urban? That alone would’ve sold me. Add in the show being produced by J.J. Adams (who produced Fringe and directed the new Star Trek movies, to name a few) and the cool-looking scifi elements in the trailer and I’m marking this as must-see tv. Link to trailer.
Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., starring Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennet. Produced by Joss Whedon. I probably don’t need to say more to some of you, but as a superhero movie junkie and a big Whedon fan, I’m all over this one. Plus, it proves what I’ve hoped for since seeing The Avengers – agent Coulson isn’t dead! *throws confetti* Long live agent Coulson! Trailer link here.
So, that’s what I’m looking forward to in new shows. Am I missing any exciting debuts?
Comment
Well, hell. I pulled the trigger too soon. Anyway, I wanted to say that Almost Human looks fantastic, as do the rest of the shows.
Holy cow I didn’t know so much good stuff was coming out. I might start watching TV again.
Shield was already on my list. Guess it just grew. Good thing I’ve purged some shows this year.
I’ve also purged some show this year. I’ve lost interest in so many shows. It seems some of them just doesn’t know when to end. LOL
Most of these are new to me but they look great! Hope my DVR can handle the new additions! Might be reaching overload levels 🙂
I can’t wait for Dracula! Jonathan fascinated me since the Tudors, I love all his roles.
Im already in love with all these shows. Damnit! Please don’t get cancelled.
I’m also looking forward to The Originals, the Vampire Diaries spin-off.
YES! I’m looking forward to The Originals too. I’m ready for a more adult show and getting away from the high school dramas.
Me three!
These all look fantastic. I have my fingers crossed for Whedon and that he gets a tv break. Poor guy hasn’t had a long running show since Buffy & Angel. I love his stuff and hope that ABC keeps SHEILD on for more than one season.
Joss Whedon & JJ Abrams…the ultimate Geek Gods. I would watch anything they create. Their worst is still better then almost everybody else’s best. And Karl Urban…I have had a crush on him since his Cupid/Caesar days on Xena/Hercules.
I can’t wait for the new fall season…lots of potential. I am gun shy, however, with how quickly shows get cancelled. Networks have become so coporatized. Shows are rarely ever given room to grow.
The eternal optimist here so I will give them a shot.
Yes, it’s discouraging to get interested in shows that the networks air 2 eps of…and then cancel! I try not to watch any new shows until at least a couple of eps have aired, for this reason.
Annoyingly, they’re putting S.H.I.E.L.D & The Originals on at the same time.
What is the release date for “Halfway to the Grave?”
Almost Human looks great! Can’t wait for fall!
