As many of you know, each book I write has a “playlist”, which means there are certain songs I listen to while writing that book. It helps put me in the right frame of mind because I’m conditioning myself to write a particular story whenever I hear those songs (not saying this will work for everyone, but it works for me). Since many of these songs are recommendations that you, readers, have given me, around the time a new book releases, I post the songs I listened to while writing it. So here is Twice Tempted’s playlist. Remember: Music tastes are as personal as reading tastes, so if you don’t like some of the bands/songs, no problem. Just please don’t tell me that I shouldn’t, because if it’s listed, then I like it even if you don’t, and no arguing on your part will change my mind :).
Layout is band name: song; other song (if more than one from the same band). Bands are in alphabetical order, not in order of preference.

* If P!nk and I were BFF’s (we’re not) and she told me she wanted to write lyrics that reflected some of the emotional struggle in Twice Tempted (she didn’t), I couldn’t have asked for better than the chorus to Try:
Where there is desire there is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame someone’s bound to get burned
But just because it burns doesn’t mean you’re gonna die
You’ve gotta get up and try…

I only know a few of the songs in this playlist, but the songs I do recognize are brilliant! Try really is an amazing song, really quite moving.

i only know about 8 songs in the list but they are very descriptive ones and say a lot about what you might have been writing about .
Catherine says
I love Try. Pink is awesome-just saw her in concert. Great list.
Catherine Teo says
Well, I do think I write better when I listen to music too 🙂
Nice songlist soundtrack 😀
StacyLynn says
just curious if eventually you will post what part of the book, if any, the songs are related to? already trying to picture what could possibly be going on for the songs i recognize, lol.
Jeaniene says
The only song I can think of that I replayed constantly while writing a particular scene was New York by the Fray, and the scene was about midway through the book with Vlad and Leila just boarding his jet. The song really fit the poignant mood between them in that scene, imo.
Jeaniene says
Correction to my comment above: New York is by Snow Patrol, not The Fray.

I would highly recommend listening to Lindsey Stirling or ZZ Ward. Lot’s of their music seems to go very well with your style of writing! Check it out!a

I love so many of these! I can’t wait for the book! ♡

When I think of Vlad and Leila’s relationship so far, I think of Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone”.

Hi Jeaniene, check out Just Give Me a Reason By Pink(if you haven’t already). I think this is a really good song that fits this book, also. Of course, it came out after your playlist, but your list is great. Its a good mixture. I hope to see you again in Richmond Tom. So Excited.

Love your playlist. Its nice knowing some of my bands helped along the way. Love five finger death punch and skillet.
Erin says
I’m glad to see Bat For Lashes on here! Especially, “Glass”, which is one of my favorites.
mada says
Everytime I think about Vlad and Leila I think Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler it’s perfect for them.
Pam says
Hi Jeaniene
Just wondering if “Twice Tempted” will be released as an audiobook with ITunes? Looking forward to listening!!!
Erin says
As I’m listening to it now, I think you should check out MSMR, especially the song “Hurricane”. Their song “Bones” is currently in the season 3 trailers for Game of Thrones.

Love the Way You Lie from the buried sessions of skylar gray kept going through my head the first half of this book. It’s an amazing song. Check it out. I think you’ll like it. 🙂
Paula says
If some of the songs on this list are any indication, Vlad is going to end up in the dog house. Well, at least, that’s my guess
Maria says
Awesome playlist. So funny, the first time I ever heard “Try” it reminded me of Vlad! Pink’s new song “Just give me a reason” is also a perfect fit, as someone stated above. I can’t help but think of your vampires when I hear Maroon Five’s “Daylight”. Christina Perri’s “Thousand Years” would have been better suited for your outstanding characters than Twilight’s! Thank you for the Night Prince novels, I am in love with them. All of your books are non stop page turners, I love them all, but you sky rocketed over all expectations with the Night Prince series!
Keep writing, we love you!
Kellie says
Wow! We have the same taste in music. Most of these songs are in my playlist.

Amid mixed reviews, I read your new book, Twice Tempted, and I must say that it, like its predecessor, Once Burned, is AMAZING. You really did your research, and, not only did you stay true to his history (for the most part), you made him totally relate-able and likable. While not sugar-coating his penchant for torture and impalement, you included his motivation for it and the fact that many Romanians consider him a national hero. the best part is, the smart aleck commentary between Vlad and Leila is totally believable.
